Earlier this month I had the pleasure of photographing EDF’s 2019 Apprentice Graduation Ceremony at the Chateau Impney in Droitwich. The graduates flew in from all over the UK having completed four-year apprenticeships in various areas of EDF’s operation.
The programme itself is remarkable. Over the last ten years it has trained over 600 apprentices, over 90% of whom still work for EDF. The courses cover mechanical, electrical, control & instrumentation engineering, and business practices. Throughout, they instill both the skills and the mindset these graduates will need when working in the modern energy industry.
I was there to capture the feel of the day, from reportage of the teams celebrating with their families, shots of winners receiving their certificates, and team photographs. We had keynotes from both the CEO and Managing Director (also a former apprentice) before lunch and a class graduation photo on the steps of the Chateau.
