So I added a Canon EOS 1N to my collection. This collection, which I recently pared down has started growing again. I have some lucid reasons for adding this one to my bag, (there are usually one or two). As I do more film photography commercially for Shoot Rewind a back-up body isn’t a bad thing, plus I could use one for monochrome and the other for colour, like the backs for my Hasselblad.
It was also cheap, fits all of my EF glass, and could double as a serviceable hammer.
The weekend saw a chance to play with it in Devon, to knock out a roll and check that it works. (One of my previous film body purchases had a faulty light curtain, which became apparent when I got 4 frames back from a roll of 36). I took a 24 & 50mm lens, some filters and put a roll of Portra through it.
(I was also glad to find that the GR-E2 grip from my EOS 3 fits it, making it a bit smaller, much lighter, and generally more wieldy. Just need to find a GR-E2 from somewhere at some point to save switching the grip between cameras…
The mantra now has to remain ‘no more cameras’, although we know how that goes…
21/05/19 – I kept the 1N for a while, I put few rolls through it, but it left, probably to pay for something else, I can’t remember what.
